Data security is not just confined to the BPOs anymore. If you are employed by any of the 40 top corporates having their regional office in Lucknow, you may not be able to walk away with even a piece of paper when you leave your cubicle late in the evening. The whizzing of the paper shredders and the CDs being grounded to dust is common in most corporate offices guarding leakage of information to the competitors.

Raman Kulshestra, a Senior Vice President with a reputed MNC posted in Lucknow says the issue of data security extends beyond the corporate internet or intranet. “Keeping a watch on the “electronic trail” is okay but things have gone beyond e-mails and camera phones in the corporate offices,” he says.
So, what’s new about data security? It’s the rising insecurity among corporates threatened with some unruly staff who would job hop and take the company’s secrets to the competitor’s turf. “There are non-disclosure contracts now in place where employees who leave the organisation cannot talk about the previous employer’s marketing plans and projects in the new company,” says Kulshestra.
Corporate information can be robbed by employees in any sector be it IT or Manufacturing for either sale or to even get promotions in another organisation.
This is what had been bothering the entire segment of senior level corporate executives who spend time keeping a watch on employees suspected of taking unusual interest in areas they don’t operate in an organisation, says Kapil Singh, another top-level corporate executive of an IT firm.
