Police has arrested the accused. The reason why he committed such a gruesome act is not known, as the youth was in a highly inebriated condition when caught and has been admitted to the MY Hospital.

The only other person present at the time the murder took place was accused’s sister, Reena (20), who is mentally challenged and has been unable to say anything to the police.

According to Pardeshipura CSP Virendra Singh, some of the neighbours at Doctor’s Colony had informed the Police Control Room at around 5 pm that Jyoti Ronge (59) had died and they suspected foul play.

When police reached the place they found the deceased’s son Ratnadeep (25) weeping in front of his uncle Ashok Dattatray inside his house. However, when someone told Ratnadeep that police had been informed about his mother’s death and they were looking for him, he ran away.

Dattatray and Sarita Chourasia, Dinkar Ronge’s sister who died on January 1, were in the house when the police reached the site of the crime, said that Ratnadeep told them that his mother had died and asked them to rush to his house. However, Ratnadeep did not tell them how or why he had killed his mother.

Police found several injury marks on the body. There was swelling on the face which indicated that she had been battered before being killed and there were stab wounds on the face and other parts of the body.
Neighbours told the police that Ratnadeep often used to beat his mother Jyoti, his late father and also Reena. This afternoon also they heard Jyoti’s cries of pain.

However, whenever they tried to intervene and tell Ratnadeep not to beat his parents, Jyoti used to tell the neighbours not to interfere since it was their personal affair.
