A much-mellowed Sonia Gandhi breezed into god's own country to curry votes for the UDF and chief minister Oommen Chandy.
Gone was the earlier bluster when she breathed fire against the Left a month ago.
She chose to highlight the achievements of the UDF government instead. The tour was a whirlwind. She covered three key segments — Kochi, Kottayam and Thiruvananthapuram — in a day.
Addressing a mammoth rally in Kottyam, she said the UDF's return to power was crucial to the state's well-being. "The UDF alone can ensure social harmony and development. Unlike our opponents,we are seeking a second term on a constructive agenda," she said.
Later at Pathanamthitta, home to the Sabarimala hill shrine, the Congress president listed the development projects underway in the temple town.
However, her tenor changed in the state capital. It was Oommen Chandy all the way. At Neyyatinkara, she asked voters to give a fresh mandate to the Chandy government.
"We introduced subsidised ration for BPL families and distributed the outstanding pension. The government needs another term to complete the remaining projects," she added.

But veteran K Karunakaran (DIC-K) was conspicuous by his absence.
