Soybean meal export registers 15pc growth

THE EXPORT of soybean meal registered a growth of 15.68 per cent over last year. During January 2007 the export was 5.35 lakh metric tonne (MT) as against 4.63 lakh metric tonne during the same period last year.

THE EXPORT of soybean meal registered a growth of 15.68 per cent over last year. During January 2007 the export was 5.35 lakh metric tonne (MT) as against 4.63 lakh metric tonne during the same period last year.

Soybean Processors Association of India spokesperson and coordinator Rajesh Agrawal said that the total exports of soybean meal for April 2006 to January 2007 was 31.70 lakh metric tonne as against 22.48 lakh metric tones during the same period last year showing a jump of 41 per cent over the last year.

The export figures in the oil year (October – September) basis again show an increased performance by the trade.
The exports during the period October 2006 to January 2007 were 17.36 lakh metric tonne as compared to 15.02 lakh metric tonne during the same period last year registering a 15.55 per cent growth.

The data has been collected and compiled by SOPA based on the information received from members, port authorities and other agencies.
