Holding the Samajwadi Party responsible for the chaos at the Lucknow University campus, the Congress on Friday charged it with patronising student leaders with criminal backgrounds.
"The Vice-Chancellor's remarks that the administration was not cooperating with varsity authority proves that the SP-led government is not serious on the law and order front," UPCC spokesman AP Singh said.
The sine die closure of the university was "a blot on the district administration", he said, adding that "utter chaos prevails on the campus".
"It is the SP government which has been patronising student leaders with criminal backgrounds and providing them with gunners," he alleged.
The VC RP Singh on Friday ordered sine die closure of the varsity and cancelled the scheduled union polls citing his inability to control the lawlessness on the campus owing to non-cooperation of the administration.
