SP candidate arrested

SK Mukim Ahmad who is party's candidate from Akola for Lok Sabh polls was arrested for his repeated failure to appear before the court in connection with a case pertaining to `burning' of flag of Gadar Party.

Maharashtra unit President of Samajwadi Party's youth wing, SK Mukim Ahmad, who is party's candidate from Akola for the forthcoming Lok Sabh polls, was today arrested for his repeated failure to appear before the court in connection with a case pertaining to `burning' of flag of Gadar Party.

Police said Mukim, who was allegedly involved in burning of the flag in public, was earlier issued several summons to appear before the court but he failed, following which a non-bailable warrant was issued, leading to his arrest.

The court has also imposed a fine of Rs 500 on him, police said.
