Unruffled by his suspension, the actor-turned-politician met CPM leaders Prakash Karat and Sitaram Yechury and repeated the charges. At the CPI (M) office, Babbar told reporters that he had not raised his voice against any individual, party or leader, but was talking of "political degeneration" and "brokers". The morale of criminals was high in Uttar Pradesh today, he said.

"I am concerned about my party's face tomorrow -- whether it would be like Lohia, whose principles it claims to follow, or like Amar Singh, whose identity was that of a broker," he said.

Expressing faith in party president Mulayam Singh Yadav, Babbar said he was "a big leader" and, if called, he would definitely meet him and convey his side of the story.

Yechury later said: "We heard him. It is for him to decide his political moves."
