The Jan Morcha president Raj Babbar on Tuesday said that ruling Samajwadi Party, which had miserably failed to perform during the last three years in power, now had nothing to offer to the people of the state. Talking to Hindustan Times on Tuesday, Babbar, who is confident of substantial gains for his fledgling party, asserted that the morcha would play decisive role in the formation of “non-SP, non-BJP” government in the state. Babbar, who is locked in intense political battle in his home turf-Agra- to ensure victory of his nominees, said first phase of polling in “Yadav land” would seal the fate of the SP. Babbar rebutted the SP charge that his workers were involved in disruption of SP general secretary Amar Singh’s rally in Agra Cantonment.

Referring to the fragmentation of Jan Morcha Alliance before the election Babbar said expectations of other constituents were high. Babbar said since there was no problem with the CPI, he had been campaigning for its candidates. He said as compared to other political combinations the credibility of Jan Morcha was quite high in the people’s perception. “We are working for aam admi” and “our integrity has gone up among the people”, Babbar pontificated. To a question whether his political career was at stake, Babbar said “ by rising against SP he has strengthened his position”. Babbar said he raised banner of revolt nearly a year ago when others like Beni Prasad Verma and Rashtriya Lok Dal president Chaudhury Ajit Singh had been hobnobbing with the chief minister. “I worked honestly in films and political life”, Babbar said and added that “I identified myself with plain speaking”.
