He was addressing a rally organised by several political parties under the auspices of the Jan Morcha Alliance (JMA) at Ramanuj Pratap Singh Degree College, Dramandganj.

Former Prime Minister VP Singh was not present at the rally due to his personal problems. Earlier, at the rally organised in Lucknow on May 30, Singh had announced that the Jan Morcha would launch its ‘Mukti Abhiyan (campaign)’ from Mirzapur. Thus, starting its ‘Mukti Abhiyan’ from Mirzapur against the State Government, Babbar said that he had launched a struggle for the poor. He further said that VP Singh, former Prime Minister, had entrusted him with several responsibilities after the launch of the new party..

Addressing the rally, Babbar said that Jan Morcha’s Mukti Sangram (freedom struggle) in UP was not against any individual but against the corrupt government. Assailing the State Government for the plight of farmers and the poor, the actor-turned politician said, “The dominance of capitalists is quite visible in the so-called ‘Samajwadi Party-led’ government of the state. He said that the UP Development Council was taking decisions to boost the interest of some capitalists neglecting the interest of common man and the UP Cabinet was approving them.

Babbar also condemned the UPA Government’s decision to hike petrol and diesel prices. The JMA, in association with the Left parties, would organise rallies against price hike on June 13, he added. According to him, the JMA would organise rallies all over the State against the State Government. Earlier, Babbar offered prayers at Vindhyachal and Ashtabhuja temples and addressed a press conference. He said that he was not against Mulayam Singh Yadav but he was against the people who were deceiving the people in the name of Lohia’s true principles.
