DISTRICT SUPERINTENDENT of Police Sanjeev Shami has been transferred from Gwalior to Special Armed Force battalion in Bhopal. Official sources said Raisen SP Vijay Singh Suryavanshi will replace him.

Political parties and business organisations had been agitating here for removal of Shami over a period of time. He came under fire following a series of loot incidents that shook the business community. The alleged firing of a shot by him at an engineering student further alienated him from the public. However, he played a key role in extermination of dreaded Dayaram Gadaria and other dacoits.
