Claiming that the Samajwadi Party and its ally RLD would play a key role in the government formation after the Lok Sabha elections, SP president and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav said on Friday he would work to prevent the BJP from forming the government.

"SP will work to prevent the formation of a BJP-led government at the Centre after the completion of the Lok Sabha elections," he said addressing an election rally in Muzaffarnagar.
Yadav exuded confidence that the SP and former Union Minister Ajit Singh's RLD would play and important role in the formation of the next government. "We will be deciding who the next Prime Minister of the country should be."
Lashing out at the BJP, Yadav said it has been trying to mislead the Muslims by spreading the canard that SP would enter into a tie up with it after the polls. "However, the people of the state are aware of BJP's gameplan and will not fall prey to its designs as they have complete faith in the policies and programmes of the Samajwadi Party."
On the demands of the sugarcane growers of the region, Yadav said his government wanted to give better support price at the rate of Rs 95 to Rs 100 while the Centre was forcing the state government to accept the rate of Rs 73 which has been resisted. He also welcomed the Supreme Court decision allowing the states to fix the sugarcane price.
