Senior BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi has alleged that Samajwadi Party-led Uttar Pradesh government was trying to avoid assembly elections being held on time as it was apprehensive of a getting majority.

"Even the state government was unnecessarily delaying the elections to local bodies in the state," he told reporters here.
Joshi said that the BJP would contest the state assembly election alone and was ready to face the electoral battle.
The BJP leader also criticised the "deteriorating" law and order situation in the state as well as the power crisis.
