THE SAMAJWADI Party today asked the State Government to launch contempt of court proceedings against former Prime Minister VP Singh, Jan Morcha Alliance (JMA) convenor Raj Babbar and others for violation of the High Court orders banning entry into the land of Reliance gas-based power project in Bajhera Khurd (Dadri). Singh along with Babbar and others had ploughed the land on Friday.
Talking to newsmen here on Saturday SP MP Bhagwati Singh said that the Mulayam Singh Yadav Government had stopped VP Singh’s rally on the instructions of the court. He said the State Government should take legal action against the ex-PM. Defending the Reliance project, Bhagwati Singh said that VP Singh and others had stealthily entered into the banned area to plough the field.
He said the former Prime Minister was more interested in “photo session” than serving the cause of the farmers, who according to him, had been paid adequate compensation.
The SP leader said that VP Singh had nothing to do with the problems of farmers and he had only targeted Chief Minister Mulayam Singh at the instance of the Congress-led UPA Government. Singh said the court had given specific orders to protect the area and stop entry of unauthorised people. But the former Prime Minister had violated all norms in this connection.
Singh said the JMA leaders were trying to create a situation, which would adversely affect investments in the State. He said the project had been delayed because the Union Petroleum Ministry had so far not fixed the price of the gas.

Referring to the disqualification of four rebel MLAs Ms Omwati Devi, Sunderlal, Ratanlal Ahirwar and Kalyan Singh Dohre, the SP leader said Speaker Mata Prasad Pandey had taken the right decision. He said organisational activities could not be conducted without strict discipline. He said the four MLAs had breached the party discipline for which they had been punished. Singh said it would send a right signal to others.
