THE SAMAJWADI Party has reportedly decided to corner the United Progressive Alliance on the Iran issue by developing a common understanding with other parties in Parliament and launching a Statewide demonstration at the district headquarters on February 18.

Vice-president of the city unit of the SP, Kirtinidhi Pandey, said the State party leadership had sent a circular to all the office-bearers in this connection.
Talking to mediapersons here on Sunday, Pandey said a meeting of party workers had been convened on February 15 at the city’s party office to discuss the strategy for the proposed demonstration.
Terming the signature on the proposal to refer the Iran issue to the UN Security Council as failure of the country’s foreign policy, he said India would lose its traditional friends one by one and weaken its stand at the international forum.
Responding to a question, Pandey justified freehold of the land adjacent to Ramprasad Bismil Park by the district administration.
He alleged that the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party were hand-in-glove to support the United States of America, which was allegedly pursuing policies to eliminate Muslim countries from the map of the world. The Samajwadi Party would strongly oppose this, he added.
