BESIDES A blue beacon light, the traffic cops and the RTO office staff removed hooters and pressure horns from over a dozen vehicles on the eighth day of the traffic drive on Wednesday. The drive was conducted at various crossings in the city.
A Gorakhpur-based businessman travelling in a Tavera (UP 53 AA-6066) had a heated exchange with the traffic constables when the latter caught him blowing hooters at Hazratganj. The trader categorically denied that hooters were attached to his vehicle.
However, when searched properly, two hooters were found installed behind the bonnet of the vehicle. The hooters were removed and a fine of Rs 1,000 was slapped on the trader.
A blue beacon light was removed from the private jeep of deputy commissioner, excise department while a hooter was removed from the vehicle (UP 32 AY-4547) of CMO Barabanki. Driver of another jeep (UP 32 BC-3022) too had a verbal duel with the traffic cops and ARTO Sanjay Nath Jha when they objected to the vehicle’s commercial use.
