Assembly speaker Shashank Shekhar Bhokta on Thursday issued show cause notice to JMM legislator Simon Marandi, who joined the BJP without relinquishing his House membership, and asked him to reply by August 19.
The Speaker's action came in response to a plea from JMM legislator Nalin Soren who submitted asked in writing for action against the MLA under the anti defection law.
Simon was a minister in Hemant Soren government. He was dropped from the ministry soon after the April-May general election for his remarks against the chief minister.
Earlier, the speaker had issued similar notices to five JVM (P) legislators for switching over to the BJP camp without resigning from the assembly membership. Proceeding against the five rebel JVM (P) MLAs will begin August 16.
