Showing its seriousness in this regard, the Government on Tuesday set up a high-level committee to look into the nuances of the proposed idea. Sources said that institutes with foreign collaborations and multi-purpose institutes with academic as well as career counselling facilities are also being envisaged.

The committee is headed by additional Chief Secretary of Panchayat and Rural Development and would be working towards framing a policy in this regard. The Principal Secretaries of Finance, Higher Education, Revenue, Secretary to CM (coordination) and the managing director of Textbook Corporation Santosh Mishra have been included as members of the committee whereas Principal Secretary Technical Education has been nominated as the member-secretary.

Sources said that some private organisations have shown deep interest in setting up top-quality institutes in the State and have demanded a huge land for this purpose. They want to set up institutes at a single place with all amenities that can make the choices for the students easier.

However, the proposal is yet in very initial stage and the committee would be looking into all aspects of the idea before coming up with a policy framework in this matter.
