To begin with, they will be singing their lungs out at Palmyra, the coffee shop at The Bristol, Gurgaon. It is the first job for these Northeastern spice girls who have landed lock, stock, barrel in the city from Mizoram. They are as excited as they are nervous, but they say they will do their job well. Just as well as their twin cousins who already perform in the city under the name Golden Rays. “They showed us the way,” says Grace Lalthansiani.

So how is the city treating them? The bright lights of the big city have bedazzled the trio from Aizawl. “We don’t have many entertainment options back there. Delhi has a lot of it,” says the second singer Lalropari M.P. Not surprisingly, they have already made their nocturnal sojourns across the city’s nightclubs and bars.

Pop to rock, country to reggae, their repertoire is big. “We sing everything: Britney Spears, Bon Jovi, the works,” says Ramengiroii. No, they don’t have any formal training, but singing in church choirs from childhood has honed their vocal chords. It is the beginning and there is a long way to go.
