Budget air-carrier, SpiceJet, on Thursday said that it has chalked out an extensive fog-management programme in co-ordination with Delhi International Airport and other airport operators to deal with fogs during the forthcoming holiday season.
"We are ready with a comprehensive fog plan to assist our customers. But the best of plans can only work with active participation of all players in the aviation industry and passengers," SpiceJet Airline's Chief Executive Officer, Sanjay Aggarwal, said in a press release issued in Mumbai.
In another initiative, the airline has also streamlined its winter schedules to minimise the number of incoming flights during probable morning and evening fog hours, Aggarwal said.
"We have also decentralised our base from Delhi, by increasing aircraft in non-Delhi base stations. There have been no new flights from Delhi introduced in this winter schedule," he said.
The airline has also asked the passengers to ensure that only their personal contact numbers are given at the time of booking to ensure that its customer-care executive can reach them, with right flight information in case of any delay due to fog.
For real-time information, the airline has introduced Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS) to enable passengers getting updated flight information by dialing 09871803333 or 1-800-180 3333, the release said, adding that, "the system is equipped to handle over 120 calls simultaneously."

The airline has also introduced customer-care initiatives at the airports for passengers awaiting their departure on account of sudden weather change.
