As the party seemed caught in a yet another debate on the issue of leadership, the managers, who were invited to a day-long workshop on Wednesday, were asked to be ready for the likelihood of Gandhi being projected as the prime minister.

Advani’s aide Sudheendra Kulkarni told them that “the issue of Advaniji ’s age will definitely crop up in our efforts to reach out to voters. But we should know that we have powerful arguments to dominate this debate, too.”

Kulkarni, who manages Advani’s campaign office, said, “Advaniji has experience of 80, but also has the enthusiasm of 20. His physical stamina and intellectual sharpness are phenomenal. Few in the younger generation, for example, can solve Sudoku puzzles as quickly as he can.”

Senior party leaders, led by chief Rajnath Singh, who addressed the managers emphasised that there was no place for complacency. The “right” message about the party, its alliance and candidates should be sent out.
