The city celebrated Holi with traditional gaiety. Though there was a nip in the air due to sudden rain, there was no dearth of merriment during the festival. When some people relished mouth-watering gujiyas, the others sprinkled colours on their near and dear ones to make the festival more memorable.
Some people even remembered their old days with nostalgia.
Kuldeep Bist, who runs a coaching institute, said, “I can never forget the first Holi after my marriage. On this occasion, I had gone to my in-laws’ house, and frankly speaking, I will never forget it in my life.”
He said when he was young, he was very shy with girls as he did not have any sister. When his sisters-in-law tried to sprinkle colour on him, he had to shun his shyness. Similarly, Amit Rathore said, “It’s a special time for getting blessings from elders.”
Delicious dishes form an important part of this festival. The women feel very happy in preparing different dishes during Holi.
A student Smita Shrivastava (22) said, “Holi inspires me to prepare various dishes, but other days, I keep myself away from kitchen.” “People given me lots of compliments for my dishes I prepared during Holi.” Such compliments made Holi more memorable for her, she said Manju Sharma, teacher, said she celebrated Holi with orphans. This made her Holi unforgettable.
“I went to an orphanage where I distributed sweets and colours to them. And when I saw smiles on their faces, I was overwhelmed with joy,” she added.

{{/usCountry}}Ashish Dixit, student, said his friends came to meet him in the evening. They all danced till late in the night. “Sudden rain increased my enjoyment during Holi. It was great,” Ashish said.
Holi Milan
THE AKHIL Bharatiya Vaishaya Mahaparishad will organise a Holi Milan programme at Naubasta on March 26. Union Minister Sri Prakash Jaiswal and State Roadways Minister Naresh Agrawal will be among the prominent Viashya leaders who will attend the function.
This was stated by founder member of the Mahaparishad Anand Gupta at a press conference here on Thursday.
Gupta said efforts were being made by the Mhaparishad to bring all prominent Vaishya leaders, barring their political leanings, to one platform. This would lead to better co-operation among the Vaishaya community, Gupta said. The Mahaparishad leaders said that at the function, efforts would be made to chalk out the outlines for future programme of the Mahaparishad.
