Spot fine mooted against litterbugs

THE MAYOR-IN-COUNCIL (MiC) meeting chaired by Mayor Sunil Sood today approved the proposal regarding the imposition of spot fine on those throwing garbage at the public places. This proposal would be implemented after the approval of the Bhopal Municipal Corporation Council and after that the State Government.

The MiC also approved the proposal regarding the construction of road with an expenditure of Rs 82.58 lakh in Transport Nagar. Two Sulabh Complexes would be constructed in wards 62 and 31. The proposal regarding the recruitment of 327 sanitary workers was also approved. Some of these sanitary workers would be deployed in nullah gang, which is responsible for cleaning the open drains in the City.

The mayor-in-council also directed the BMC administration to form a policy for spending the corporators’ fund. It was alleged that in some cases the corporators’ fund is spent on the purchase of furniture and other works.
The MiC said that the fund should be used only ward related developmental works.

It was also decided that the tenders would be issued for the purchase of parts for the BMC-owned vehicles. A policy for providing diesel to the vehicles was also prepared. The MiC members were also apprised about the preconditions of Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission. The members discussed the BMC Commissioner’s order regarding stopping water supply through tankers to the individuals.
