"Springer would initially bring about 10,000 scientific, technical and medical books in electronic format and add nearly 3,000 new titles every year," Springer India's Managing Director Sanjiv Goswami said in New Delhi on Wednesday.

Springer would focus on books and journals on science, technology and medicine and cater to high end research requirement of students and academics, Goswami said.

Institutions like the Delhi College of Engineering, AICTE, Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) subscribe to Springer's collection of research and academic material.

"It would lay down a level playing field for students to access latest journals, books or reference materials. With access to our online resources, we would see greater use of the many books that Springer publishes every year," he said.

The book collection would enable researchers and students to access infinite information from a much larger data base than is normally available to them, he added.
