In all four persons, Anil Kumar (23), Satish Kumar (30), Sundar Kumar (45) and one other, consumed liquor at their residence and thereafter went on the fields where rose farming was undertaken.

All of them complained of deterioration in their health condition and were later rushed to hospital. "Three of them died at the hospital while the fourth one is still critical," Ajay Kumar, superintendent of police, said.

The police went for an extensive search after the incident and seized around 100 empty bottles of different brands from their respective houses. Police said the four men had sprinkled some pesticide in the rose fields and thereafter went on for a drinking spree inside the fields which could have led to a liquor contamination. Although police did not comment on the exact cause of death, they did not rule out the possibility of spurious liquor as the reason behind the incident.
