Sreesanth mess leaves businessman fretting

A small scale businessman from Thrissur in Kerala, Ayub Khan is a worried man today. He is not sure what would happen to his water purifying company that took the brand name S 36 owned by Sreesanth in what he thought would be a surefire success.

Ayub and Sreesanth came together sometime last year during the celebrity cricket league when the disgraced paceman offered his services as brand ambassador for Khan’s company and allowed him to use S 36. The firm, S 36, was incorporated in Bangalore in September 2010.Ayub has been summoned by the Mumbai crime branch for questioning in connection with some photographs of Mumbai models that were sent to Sreesanth by a casting

director. The search for models was to promote the water purifying company as well as a garment business S 36 was getting into.

Ayub told a TV channel that he accepted Sreesanth’s offer gladly and started marketing mineral water under the brandname S 36. The business eventually was to expand to other activities. The company Srees­anth owned, S 36 Sports and Ent­ertainment Private Ltd., had two other partners — P Shiva­shankaran, Jayan Thekkedath. It was the Kochi-based P Shivakumar who held 26 per cent stake in the company. Shivakumar, one of Sreesanth’s early coaches, withdrew from the company in August last year.
