Four more people were arrested in connection with the T20 league spot fixing scandal, police said on Wednesday. "Nitin Sharma, Monu Sharma alias Vinod Sharma and Vicky Chaud-hary were arrested on Tuesday night by the Delhi police," a police official said. They were sent to police custody till Thursday.
The official added police have also arrested Abhishek Shukla, a friend of S Sreesanth, who allegedly cleaned up the cricketer's hotel room soon after his arrest. Shukla, an event manager, revealed he was called by Jiju Janardhan, an arrested bookie, after Sreesanth's arrest to hide some money and belongings of the cricketer.
Replying to queries about how Janardhan knew of Sreesanth’s arrest, the official said that Rajeev Pillai, a south Indian actor who was with Sreesanth in a car at the time of his arrest, informed Janardhan, who called Shukla. "Shukla's PAN number was given for Sreesanth's transactions. He knows Sreesanth for five to six years," the official said.
Police claimed to have recovered Rs 5 lakh from an apartment in Andheri West in Mumbai owned by Shukla. Police said the money was removed by Shukla from Sreesanth and Jiju’s rooms after he learnt of his arrest.
Chavan moves fresh bail application
New Delhi: Cricketer Ankeet Chavan, an accused in the spot-fixing scandal, moved a fresh bail-application before a sessions court after he was denied the relief by a magisterial court. Chavan filed his bail plea before additional sessions judge Vinay Kumar Khanna, who kept the matter for hearing on Thursday. Chavan has sought bail on the ground that his marriage is fixed for June 2.

Travel agent handed over to Delhi police
Ahmedabad: The city crime branch picked up a travel agent, who had allegedly booked tickets for several bookies involved in the spot-fixing scandal, and handed him over to their Delhi counterparts.
“We handed over one Jimmy, a travel agent from Bapunagar, to the Delhi police, who wanted him as a witness in the case," crime branch joint-commissioner of police AK Sharma said.
Look out circular for bookies soon
Mumbai: The Mumbai crime branch will soon issue a look out circular (LOC) for around five bookies who are currently untraceable, in order to ensure that they do not leave the country or are tracked down as soon as they enter the country. The police have already issued an LOC against bookies Pawan and Sanjay Jaipur, who fled the country soon after the crime branch made the first few arrests in the betting racket.
