Jaiswal, who spent an hour in the blast affected village within the Indian Air Force (IAF) station, gave a patient hearing to the people who feared that the authorities were planning to displace them. The minister said the incident was unfortunate but he would ensure that residents were not removed from the area.

“Bury all your fears. First of all, the government will not endorse such a plan. No villager will have to move out of this place,” the minister told a gathering of panic-stricken people.

In fact, all the villages that come under the ambit of IAF station are illegally inhabited. The people have occupied the land to build residential structures and do not pay taxes to any government agency.

After the blast in an illegal firecrackers unit claimed seven lives, the people fear that the IAF authorities will forcibly remove them.

They apprehend, since the blast threatened the security of both IAF and the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) it will be easy for the authorities to displace them.

The minister visited the house devastated in the blast and asked the reasons that led to it. He also visited the Khan Nursing home to meet the injured primary school teacher Raj Kumar Verma, who lost his wife Renu and three-year-old daughter Sonal, in the incident.
