The nurses have alleged that the SIC took the decision to remove pharmacist Robin Tak from the surgical store following pressure from a ‘corrupt’ pharmacist who wanted the post.

The nurses met the SIC and demanded that he cancel the order regarding Tak’s posting to some other department.

District nurses’ association president Safia Khatun said Tak was managing the surgical store very efficiently.

He was very honest and everyone including junior doctors was happy with his work. Moreover, there were no complaints against him.

“But the SIC’s decision to shift Tak is without reason since he has completed one year in the surgical store,” she added.

Khatun said the ‘corrupt’ pharmacist had been suspended in 1989 for selling medicines from the Kaudihar community health centre.

“But despite his poor record, the SIC accepted his demand. We will go on strike if the SIC fails to cancel his order,’ she added.
