UNION MINISTER for Small and Village Industries Mahavir Prasad on Tuesday said promotion of small-scale industries was the only way to create jobs.

He said small scale industries had 39 per cent share in total industrial production and 34 per cent in foreign trade.
He stressed the need to change the mindset of the youth and said they should opt for entrepreneurship rather wasting time and energy in search of jobs.
He said the Union Government was determined to promote entrepreneurship and business activities solve the problem of unemployment and check migration of youth from villages to industrial cities. He was speaking at the inauguration of the Centre for Entrepreneurship and Business Development at Master of Business Administration Department in DDU Gorakhpur University.
Prasad said he had pledged all-round development of eastern UP by promoting small industries as a centre of 12 districts.
Expressing his views on this occasion, Gorakhpur University vice-chancellor Prof Arun Kumar said great hopes were pinned on small-scale industries, but there was a problem of motivation for entrepreneurship and self-employment.
Establishment of the centre would fulfil the need, he said, adding getting a salaried job was not everything in life. He stressed the need for inculcating a culture of entrepreneurship in youth and housewives.

{{/usCountry}}In another programme at Biotechnology Department in the university, Prasad said biotechnology would usher in a new revolution in the country in the age of globalisation. He said biotechnology was a powerful means to ensure food for every citizen.
Head of the department Dinesh Yadav threw light on the history of the department and said establishment of a bioinformatory laboratory in the department would be beneficial for students.
