Chowrasia, who has been struggling on the European Tour, rode on his flawless front nine to lie two shots off lead. However, compatriots Jyoti Randhawa and Shiv Kapur risk missing the cut, which has been decided at one-over, after going three-over 73 and eight-over 79 respectively for the tied 102nd and tied 141st places.

Chowrasia brought home a blemish-free front nine studded with birdies on the third, fourth, fifth and eighth holes to make the turn at four-under.
