Shout slogans against college principal
STUDENTS OF St Andrew’s Degree College took out a procession and shouted slogans against the college principal. They also demonstrated before the Cantonment police station and the cops had a tough time handling the situation.
The students were irked over the attitude of the principal and alleged that the college administration had adopted confrontational posture on the issue of administration and running of evening classes.
Sources said the students went to the principal’s office and mounted pressure for admission of some students and demanded to increase seats in various classes. When the principal refused to do so, the students started shouting slogans and manhandled a teacher in the principal’s office. In defence, the principal took out his licensed revolver. Later, he suspended two students of LLB in this connection.
This angered the students further and they tried to damage the college property. Meanwhile, on being informed, the police arrived at the college and arrested one of the students.
This added fuel to the fire and the students forced closure of the office and disrupted classes. They then took out a procession and shouted slogans.
They also forced the shopkeepers in front of the college to down their shutters and reached Cantonment police station in bid to free the student leader from police custody.
The cops pacified the students with assurance that the student would be released after interrogation.

{{/usCountry}}It is to be noted that incidents of scuffle between students has increased in the university and degree colleges, raising hackles of the authorities.
On Wednesday supporters of two probable candidates for the president’s post of the student union, Shrikant Mishra and Prabhakar Dwivedi, engaged in a scuffle.
A few students sustained serious injuries and police had to be called to bring the situation under control.
