Staff held for stealing firm secrets for rival

A shoe designer with an export house was arrested for passing on design secrets to a rival company. HT reports.

A shoe designer with an export house was arrested for passing on design secrets to a rival company.

According to the FIR filed by a leather export company, Zeta, the designs were stolen on the direction of Shoe Craft that caused a business loss of R15 crore.

The police arrested two persons on Wednesday night and produced them before a court on Thursday.

The court sent them for 14 days judicial custody.

According to the police, one of the accused, identified as Aneesh Kumar, is an assistant designer and was caught by the security guards when he was carrying the latest development patterns.

“It was developed by Zeta. The company was going to produce the 25,000 pairs of shoes, which cost around R15 crore. It was confidential patterns of the company,” said a company official in the complaint filed at Manesar police station.

“Kumar confessed that he had stolen these designs after he was asked by chief designer Shree Narayan who joined Shoe Craft two days back,” said Praveen Yadav, son of Prakash Yadav who is a partner in Zeta company.

The police have registered a case and investigating the matter. “We are investigating the matter and will take all the necessary action,” said a senior police official.
