Presently there are 138 vacant posts of clerical staff, 135 of delivery staff and 70 of Group D employees.

"Sanctioned posts of clerical staff which include postal assistants, sub-post masters, assistant post masters and deputy post masters are 571 while only 433 staff are working at the moment. Besides, the sanctioned posts of delivery staff which include post man, sorting post man, mail overseer and cash overseer are 401 while only 266 posts are filled up. Similarly the sanctioned posts of group D employees which include letter box peon and office packers are 205 while only 135 are working at present", said sources.

Under-staffed post offices of the Allahabad Postal division have proved to be one of the reasons which have adversely affected services of the postal department.

What's more, due to the manpower shortage, the workload on the employees has increased manifold.

However, on being contacted, Post Master General Ashutosh Tripathi said, "Recruitment has been done recently and as such there is no manpower shortage in the department. Besides, effective services are being provided by the department and we are continuously making efforts to make the services even better."
