Looks like 1, Anne Marg has finally opened its gates to Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar. For the stars have given the go-ahead to Bihar's “first” couple — railway minister Lalu Prasad and his wife Rabri Devi — to move into their new home after a 15-year stint at the sprawling CM's bungalow. The auspicious day is February 2, celebrated as Basant Panchami.

Sources close to the family said the seers deemed that particular day favourable for relocating lock, stock and barrel to 10 Circular Road, dubbed as Patna's 10, Janpath. "It's now final. Laluji and Rabriji, along with the family, would shift base on February 2," said a close aide of Rabri Devi, now the leader of the Opposition.

The move will end Nitish's agony. The chief minister has been waiting for more than two months to sample the pleasures of 1, Anne Marg. A few days ago, he had expressed displeasure at the way both of them were delaying vacating the house. "I don't know when they will move out. It is up to you (the media) to find out," he had told reporters.

"I have not been given two personal assistants and neither a telephone connection has been installed at my residence," she told the media on Monday. Rabri said several missives to the departments concerned have fallen on deaf ears.

Meanwhile, 1, Anne Marg is a hive of activity. The couple has been moving out in bits and pieces over the past few weeks. A huge lantern (a RJD symbol), which adorned the gate, has been pulled down and now occupies a pride of place on 10, Circular Road.
