The college teachers of the state staged a protest on their respective campuses here and raised slogans to show their resentment against indifferent attitude adopted by the state government towards their demand for regular promotions.
On the call of Haryana Federation of University and College Teachers Organisation (HFUCTO), the teachers staged the protest and later submitted a memorandum to the district administration.
A spokesperson for the HFUCTO said that a state-level dharna would be staged in front of the office of higher education, Shiksha Sadan, Panchkula, on November 26 as part of the agitation if the government continued to be oblivious to the problems of the university and college teachers of the state.
He further said that meeting of the HFUCTO would be held at Panchkula after dharna to chalk out further course of action.
The main demands of the teachers' organisation included parity in the age of superannuation among teachers of universities as well as aided colleges, posts of professor for college teachers to remove stagnation, workload and grant of advance/additional increments as per the University Grants Commission (UGC) recommendations and effective implementation of UGC norms in recruitment of teaching staff.
The spokesperson said that the HFUCTO had written many letters to chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda for his intervention during past four years to remove stagnation in their career and give third promotion as recommended by Sixth Pay Commission for all employees.
