Members of the Rajya Karamchari Sanyukt Parishad (Yadav faction) held a demonstration in front of the Vidhan Bhawan and handed over a memorandum to the district magistrate in this connection. The memorandum is to be sent to the Prime Minister. Expressing solidarity with their counterparts in the Centre, the State employees’ union said they would extend full support to whatever agitation was launched by the Central staff in the future.

Addressing the gathering, state karamchari parishad chief Amar Nath Yadav said that despite the recommendation of the 5th pay commission to set up another pay commission by 2003, the Centre was yet to act on it. He urged the PM to restore the facility of deficit grant and planning loan to UP, considering the poor fiscal health of the State.

Senior president of the union BL Kushwaha demanded restoration of 12 per cent interest on the Provident Fund. Criticising privatisation, he said the Centre’s policies were against the interests of not only government employees but also against the unemployed, who were being deprived of jobs in the government sector.
