THE STATE government employees under the banner of State Employees’ Joint Council (SEJC) staged a massive demonstration at the district headquarters on Friday in support of their demands.

They said that there were major differences over the city and house allowance between State government employees and Central Government employees while the State employees had been getting similar allowance in the year 1981.
Addressing the demonstration, state vice-president of SEJC ERN Singh, state patron of Ministerial Collectorate Employees’ Union Santosh Srivastava, and senior vice-president of council Madan Mohan Srivastava said that State employees were not getting house allowance and city allowance as per the 50 per cent merger of dearness allowance in their basic salaries.
“The Central Government has declared the formation of Sixth Pay Commission but the State government was not providing the resultant profit of DA merger to the State employees,” they said. The difference would be increased, they added.
They demanded immediate implementation of resultant profits of DA merger otherwise the State employees would suffer more. More than a dozen employee associations including Transport, Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad, Excise Department, Diploma Engineer Association etc., participated in the demonstration.
The other prominent demands of the State employees were minimum 50 per cent pension and 30 per cent family pension as per revised salary after January 1, 1996 etc.
