MP HIGH Court today granted a week’s time to the State Government to file more documents to substantiate the arrest of Mohammad Zafar, allegedly a Students’ Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) activist involved in the circulation of a magazine ‘Taharik-e-millat’ in Khandwa district.
The Government counsel SK Kayshap prayed the court to grant some time to submit documents, saying the police station had not furnished the same to him yet.
A lower court in Khandwa recently rejected the bail application of Zafar who is in judicial custody. Khandwa police arrested Zafar from Kota in Rajasthan last May in connection with the circulation of the magazine containing various inflammatory articles against the Hindu community.
Justice AK Saxena heard the bail plea of Zafar after the police registered a case under provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act 1967 and the Indian Penal Code for circulating the magazine.
