Uttaranchal government has sent a proposal to the Union Government for changing the name of the state to Uttarakhand, the Lok Sabha was informed on Tuesday.
The Union Government, at present, does not propose change the name of the state, Minister of State for Home Manikrao Hodlya Gavit said in a written reply.
