THE STATE Government has decided to organise the Stand Up Programme of the United Nations as part of the Millennium Campaign on October 16 - International Poverty Eradication Day.
The Stand Up programme aims at creating mass awareness to mobilise support for achieving millennium development targets and eradicating poverty. Under this, mass oath will be administered in schools and colleges of all districts barring Vidisha, Sehore, Raisen, Hoshangabad and Chhatarpur.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has extended support to this UN-sponsored endeavour to ensure that maximum number of people stand up at 11 am to take the oath.
Chief Secretary Rakesh Sahni has written a letter to Divisional Commissioners and Collectors except in the election-bound five districts, containing guidelines in this regard.
They have been asked to mobilise maximum people for oath taking. The Chief Secretary has asked them to work out and execute an action plan for the purpose. Collectors have been asked to coordinate the programme.
Chief Secretary has directed Collectors to inform the number of participants in the programme the same evening to the General Administration Department (GAD).
Separate directives have been issued by school education, higher education, technical education, medical education, sports and youth welfare, urban administration and development, panchayats and rural development, public health and home departments to their officers for this purpose.
