Travelling by Metro is all set to become more convenient for city commuters.
Soon, the Haryana government will launch a fleet of feeder buses to ferry passengers to and from Metro stations in Gurgaon, Delhi and Faridabad.
The Haryana Roadways has agreed to launch feeder buses on eight different routes connecting some important Metro stations across the National Capital Region, a spokesperson of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) said.
The stations with which the bus network would be connected are Badarpur, Tughlakabad, AIIMS, Kashmere Gate and Huda City Centre.
The proposed bus networks include Sikanderpur–Kendriya Vihar, Tughlagabad-Ballabhgarh, Ballabhgarh-AIIMS, NIT bus stand-AIIMS, Ballabhgarh-ISBT Kashmere Gate, NIT-ISBT Kashmere Gate and two routes between Badarpur Metro station and Ballabhgarh bus stand.
“Since long, Gurgaon commuters had been demanding for a feeder bus service as they could not use Metro because of poor transport connectivity. With this step, their demand will be met soon,” said a Haryana transport official.
Lack of public transport system has been a major concern for the residents of Millennium City.
“Introducing Metro feeder bus will certainly save peoples’ time and money. We won’t have to depend on shared autos,” said Ajeyo Basu, a daily commuter.
