DESPITE TUESDAY’S tussle between the women’s organisation and the lawyers a number of women were present at the sessions court during the hearing of the Ashiana rape case.

The hearing was held in camera wherein the court recorded the statement of the victim’s father. Later, the hearing was adjourned till Friday.

Rooprekha Verma of Saajhi Duniya said, “If the lawyers thought our commitment for the case will die down then they were wrong. We will keep standing for what is right and keep supporting the victim and her family. And after the incident we are also getting support from women lawyers.” A number of lawyers were present outside the courtroom just to support this movement for justice.

Taking the signature campaign further Madhu Garg of All-India Democratic Women’s Association said, “Our next signature campaign will take place at Munshi Pulia on May 13 and then on May 15 at Aminabad. Following which we will meet the district magistrate on May 16 and hand over all the papers bearing signatures of thousands of people of the city to demand justice for the rape victim.”
