SPECIAL TASK Force (STF) sleuths are believed to have tracked down the persons behind the kidnapping of Adobe India CEO Naresh Gupta’s son Anant. The youths who executed the crime have also been identified. But, fearing for the life of the child, STF sleuths are not conducting raids to pick up the prime suspects.
Sources in the STF said the gang behind Anant’s kidnapping are ‘greenhorns’ and no criminal antecedents had yet been found about them.
Following the sequence of events, STF sleuths succeeded in tracking down the vehicles used in the crime and the youths who did the job were identified. But, the cops are yet to locate the place where the child is kept.
Since any hasty step could risk the child’s life, the cops are not picking up the suspects. Once the child is located the STF team will pounce on the group engaged in the crime.
Sources also rubbished reports of Naresh Gupta receiving ransom calls. They added that the possibility of family rivalry behind the kidnapping was evident as organised gangs always picked up the head of the family and avoided laying hands on kids. The kidnapping was an attempt by Gupta’s rivals to teach him a lesson and procure handsome amount for the abductors.
A similar incident had occurred in Lucknow in 2005 when five-year-old son of a leading city jeweller was kidnapped right from outside his residence by car-borne criminals. STF sleuths were pressed into the job. Involvement of some family rivals had come into light later and the boy was left by the kidnappers in the city after six months. The accused were never traced.

Madhya Pradesh Police have started search and combing operations after reports that Anant was in the custody of Chambal bandit Jagjivan Parihar, who carries a reward of Rs 5 lakh. D.C. Sagar, DIG Chambal Range, did not rule out the possibility of Anant changing hands through a chain of organised crime.
"We have intensified patrolling and combing after such reports," he said.
