AS PART of the nationwide strike of employees of State Bank of India (SBI), the indefinite strike of employees of SBI entered the sixth day in Varanasi on Saturday.

The employees of the SBI, including officers, clerks and pension holders, staged a massive demonstration outside the regional office of SBI in Kachehri area today.

The employees of all the 40 branches of SBI, including officers, staged a demonstration outside the regional office of the bank, strongly condemning the alleged stepmotherly treatment of the Union Government for not enhancing the pension of the employees.

All the customer services, including transaction, clearance of cheques and other services remained completely paralysed on Saturday. It may be mentioned that the agitated state bank employees are on indefinite strike from Monday in support of various demands including review of pension. The call of indefinite strike has been given by the State Bank of India Staff Federation and State Bank of India Officers Association jointly.

The bank employees asserted that they would not call off their agitation till their demand were fulfilled.

Similarly, president of the local chapter of Insurance Employees Association Narayan Chatarjee and secretary Vinod Kumar Srivastva also declared support to the SBI employees.

Chief regional secretary of SBI Officers Association BB Singh said that their demands were genuine and the Union Government should fulfill their demands.
