“HIGHER EDUCATION is a crucial stage in any student’s life. Higher education imparts maturity to students as well as sketches out a career for him. It is a challenge for teachers to secure the future of students by providing an educational environment for them.”
These were the words of Vice-Chancellor Uttar Pradesh Rajarshi Tandon Open University (UPRTOU) Prof KNS Yadav when he was speaking during the three-day round table conference on ‘Student assistance service’. It was jointly organised by UPRTOU and Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) under an educational consultancy programme which started at the UPRTOU administrative office on Wednesday.
Yadav said there had been a substantial increase in the number of students of higher education and thereby the demand for more higher educations institutions had increased. The open education system had provided education to those who were unable to get admission in regular universities and for those who were employed. The open university was determined to educate those who lived in remote areas and villages, he added.
Chief guest Prof SP Singh from the University of Western Ontario, Canada opined mathematics was the centre of knowledge and had changed the world education scenario. Guest of honour Prof Farhat Yusuf from Mequery University, Australia, said on-line education had gained popularity cutting across borders. IGNOU Prof Santosh Panda urged to develop the distance education system.
