They were unable to tell when was the last time they laughed and the food they took last evening. Shockingly, many of them were not taking proper calories and diet and yet suffered from obesity and over-weight.

Ayurvedacharya, Dr SK Rai, who led the camp, said as many as 640 patients of different age groups attended the recently held two-day Ayurveda check-up camp. Amongst them 90 per cent were found suffering from diabetes, high BP, obesity, muscular problem and osteo arthritis. Atleast 80-85 per cent patients amongst them had no family history of diabetes, arthritis or obesity. Many of them also suffered from asthma without any hereditary reasons. And all of them had very poor immunity level, he added.

"Many of them were over-weight despite the fact that they were not having proper diet or calories required for the type of work they were doing," he said.
Dr Rai said two main reasons were identified for their present condition. One was stress due to overuse of body and mind and second their habits which were against the natural way of living or 'Prakriti'. They were unable to strike a right balance between time, money and sleep which is a very important factor for a healthy state of mind and body, he said.
