“We have also faced a similar scenario at home, leading to a lot of funny and frustrating situations,” says the film’s producer Amita Pathak, adding how well she relates to the subject.
Heart-felt plight
We asked some Delhiites why a knock at the door doesn’t always mean a pleasant surprise.
“I got married this year and came to Delhi to stay with my husband. But I don’t remember a single weekend that both of us spent together, since week after week some or the other relative keeps dropping in. My hubby’s off day is the only time I get to spend with him and it gets ‘longer and longer’ [frustrating] attending to people week after week,” says Bobby Thakur, 25, sighing.

Inform in advance
“Unexpected guests can be irritating when you have plans at hand. A good way of saving an awkward situation is by informing people in advance about your plans, if possible,” says psychiatrist Sanjay Chugh.
“Politely conveying to guests that a prior notice would be appreciated is a good way to tackle the situation.”
Fashion designer, Tripti Sharma concurs. “I ensure that my personal life doesn’t get affected by surprises, especially those which I am sure I am ‘not’ going to cherish.”
“I always inform people way in advance if I plan a visit to someone’s place. I expect the same from others,” she adds.
