A delegation of protesters also submitted a memorandum at the Governor's office.

Undergraduates, interns and post-graduates, wearing black badges, marched from BMC to Hudson circle where they had to terminate their protest as only "five students' representatives were allowed to go to Raj Bhavan escorted by police," President of Junior Doctors' Association Venugopal said.

"We handed over the memorandum to the Governor's office where we were assured it would be immediately faxed to the Governor who is in Delhi for him to take up the issue at the Central level," he said.

Venugopal said, "till the Central government's response to reservation quota is known, the undergraduates of BMC will continue to boycott classes while interns and post-graduates will continue working wearing black badges".

The protest is likely to get strengthened with other government and medical colleges in the state joining it, Venugopal said.

Around 40 former alumni of IITs and IIMS, most of whom are working as software professionals in Bangalore, also joined the protest on Saturday.
