Yogendra couldn’t understand. He was stunned when the varsity employee showed as having signed the register and taken the cheque. Then, they found out that it was ‘another’ Yogendra Singh who had made away with his cheque.

The amount was just Rs 2,400 but the incident has exposed the slackness on the part of the varsity administration. The ‘genuine’ Yogendra Singh has filed a complaint with Registrar KN Pandey.

Pandey summoned the ‘erring’ employee to his office but he failed to show up.

The Registrar then, directed the Assistant Register to lodge an FIR against the other Yogendra Singh who had collected the cheque and assured the genuine recipient not to worry.

Sources inside the campus said that it was the handiwork of an employee who knew that a cheque in the name of Yogendra Singh was lying at the office and there was no claimant.

It was learnt that the genuine claimant have been visiting LU office to collect his cheque. But each time, he was asked to return the next day. One day an employee gave him Rs 1,000 in cash and asked him not to come again for the cheque!

Thereafter, on Thursday, Singh lodged a complaint with the Registrar. Pro V-C RS Yadav said, “Now that the matter has come to light it would be sorted out shortly and the genuine student would be given his scholarship amount.”
