STUDENTS OF Malav Kanya Uchchtar Madyamik Vidyalya have alleged that the mark sheets of a practical exam, which was to be conducted today, were prepared a week ago by the teachers. The students reported the matter to Divisional Education Officer SB Singh during his visit to the school.
However, the school principal has denied that anything of this kind has happened. Singh has ordered an enquiry.
Dr Singh said that he had gone to the school for an altogether different reason and was informed by Class XI students that their mark sheets of chemistry practical exam had been prepared even before the exam took place. It was subsequently found that their chemistry teacher was a visiting faculty and not on the permanent staff.
Principal Usha Dave said that the students are confused. Their half-yearly exams have concluded recently and the practical exams, which are usually held later, were conducted a few days back.
The students are under the impression that it was their final practical exam, she said. She, however, acknowledged that though chemistry is an important subject, the school does not have a permanent faculty, but denied preparing mark sheets in advance.
Singh has reprimanded the school administration for laxity and asked the principal to prepare a report on the matter and submit it to him at the earliest.

Furthermore, the school was in the news for opposing combining morning and afternoon shifts as ordered by Directorate of Public Education Assistant Director Dr Ramadhar Malviya during his visit to the City recently. The students had opposed that move and staged a walkout. They were later pacified by him and the principal persuaded them to attend classes.
